Arranging accommodation for your guests
First list the beds available at the venue and nearby, then ask each guest in their reply whether they need accommodation and for which nights. Give on-site places to families with children and older guests first.
Take stock before inviting
Count the beds at the reception venue, room by room, noting double and single beds. Then find hotels, gîtes and B&Bs within twenty minutes, and ask whether they will block rooms until a given date.
Ask about the need in the reply
The question is asked at the same time as attendance: “Do you need accommodation? For which nights?” You'll know straight away whether the beds are enough, without calling everyone back.
Who to put up on site
- Families with young children.
- Older people or those with reduced mobility.
- The witnesses and close family.
- Those staying for the brunch the next day.
Say clearly who pays for what. Accommodation that is offered, paid by the guest or shared: all three are common, and misunderstandings come from silence.
Getting home after the party
If the venue is remote, a shuttle to the accommodation stops anyone getting behind the wheel after the party. Announce the pick-up times on your wedding page and check that they fit the end of the ceremony and the venue's closing time.
